Guest Posting on Erin Condren’s Blog…about Some Day

April 7, 2017

Some day. When your kids are little, you think about “some day” a lot. Some day she’ll ride a bike. Some day she’ll graduate. Some day she’ll get married. But at the time you never actually think that some day will get here…and then it does. A year ago, my daughter Sarah got engaged to a wonderful young man, and some… Read More

Planner Review – Simplified Planner and Erin Condren – Daily | Weekly | Monthly

March 30, 2017

It’s no secret that around here life is rolling with fervor. I’m keeping up – which lets me know I’m right where God wants me to be. Tending all the little and big things each day, considering and anticipating what I can, and leaving just enough margin for those things I can’t anticipate. I’m not sure life has ever been… Read More

A Treasured Title for the Feast of St. Joseph

A Treasured Title for the Feast of St. Joseph

March 20, 2017

Each year, this delightful chapter book finds its way to our March Feast Table in honor of good St. Joseph. This narrative makes a great read aloud and illuminates a remarkable saint! One of the beautiful titles we give Our Blessed Lady is “Gate of Heaven.”  So naturally the “Keeper of the Gate” is her faithful protector, St. Joseph.  Originally… Read More

Checking in – Sifted Spaces

March 14, 2017

I’ve been working through so many fantastic home projects the last few months. Organizing spaces. Tidying and sorting and putting things in places. It’s been good in so many ways, but mostly because it helps me sift out the useful and beautiful from the superfluous. I find renewed peace and beauty in these “sifted spaces” and naturally there is the… Read More

Here we go – rolling right out of holiday time and into what is, for most homeschoolers, the month of uncertainty, hesitation, self-questioning (in which we are tempted to define our homeschooling efforts thus far as a failure). That means…it’s almost February. There is just something about this time of year! With half a school year behind us we examine and… Read More

The Call Within the Call – Lessons from Mother Teresa on Homeschooling

September 1, 2016

With the upcoming canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa on September 4, 2016, I wanted to share a bit about how this Saint has provided influence in my own life. This article was originally published in 2009 in mater et magistra magazine. It is republished here with slight editing to update. In the Learning Room: Year 3 and Year 6 Organization

I’m not sure I’m capable of limiting my vocabulary in this way.   >>>Just.Not.Sure.I.Can.Limit<<<  But, I’m seriously going to try. Catch up with me – snapshots of ordinary days

Instagram post 17877946564483095 I’ve been shaking up my planning system a lot lately to fit my needs *right now* - in this season. That’s probably why I’ve been a little quieter in terms of my planning posts! Every now and then I assess - seasons change - and my planner needs do, too. It’s hard shaking up a system that isn’t as efficient as you need it to be. My planning has become super functional - almost minimal. And some of that is just a function of my time.
.
There are two types of planner people: 1️⃣those that use multiple planners, and 2️⃣those that are overwhelmed by multiple planners. Both are right answers depending on your needs and temperament‼️ Planners are a tool! They can be functional, and they can be creative outlets! Use the tool(s) that works for you! I use several planners and they each have specific functions. Using multiple planners works well for my brain and helps me pocket tasks in the tool that gives me the most leverage with my day.
.
This is my 2020 lineup! 💙
Top to bottom:
💠 @erincondren folio/petite planner system - health/wellness planner with these inserts: habit tracker, medical treatment log, lined notebook, daily planner, on the go folio organizer insert.
💠 @erincondren LifePlanner hourly - family weekly overview...this is the planner for all the events and appointments to intersect on a page. I consider it the master planner.
💠 @levenger softfolio containing my discbound system with @cloth_and_paper inserts - this planner travels with me and has sections for church work, budget and purchase planning, vacation planning, home lists, content planning, and personal planning.
💠 @erincondren Teacher Planner for homeschool planning specifics (currently homeschooling my 1st grader, 6th grader, and 9th grader)
💠 @levenger cover on my discbound home education resource notebook that holds: semester grids, literature notes, schedules, booklists, weekly assessments and class notes.

Instagram post 18115691752060786 It’s a quiet, sunny morning - the perfect time to get my act together for this week! When I have a lot to do, and start feeling overwhelmed with it all, my process is always the same:
1️⃣Coffee ☕️
2️⃣Quiet spot (even if I have to go hide in the bathroom! 😉)
3️⃣Planners and pen and highlighter out!
4️⃣Make a home list, kids list, cooking list, personal list, work list, mini rewards list! I start with one unfiltered brain dump and spread things out from there.
5️⃣Start laying out tasks in my planners - pegging tasks to days.
6️⃣Check list for straggler-tasks I’m avoiding and spread them out on my planner.
6️⃣Spread out my mini rewards! Everyone needs a little motivation at the end of a hard working day! Plan a movie night, grab a few splurge-y chocolate bars from the store, a special cocktail - just a little something that you can bookend your day with!
.
Off to make my lists! Hope y’all have a great Monday! .
