First Communion Day

I thought I’d share some pictures of my Katie’s First Holy Communion Day.  The day was such a blessing and it is a precious, treasured joy when a child receives Our Lord for the very first time in Holy Communion!

(Photo credit for most of these images goes to my daughter, Sarah)

I pray you all had a beautiful Mother’s Day!  Mine could not have been more richly blessed!  Deo Gratias!

  1. Katie is beautiful and Sarah did a great job with the pictures. My favorite is Twirling. 🙂

  2. What a beautiful little First Communicant. She looked very happy. And what a great “class” picture. Could have been taken anytime before about 1965!

  3. Thank you for sharing these precious and beautiful sacramental moments of First Holy Communion. We are eagerly preparing for my daughter’s First Holy Communion this Sunday. Blessings…

  4. Just lovely! May I ask where you got her dress. Do you have a link? We are looking for a dress very much like that.

    1. Thank you Genevieve! The dress Katie is wearing was Sarah’s First Communion dress, and i actually bought it off a consignment rack from a bridal shop years ago and then had the dress altered to add sleeves. Originally, it was a sleeveless bridesmaid dress. So…check with local bridal shops in your area! Our dress was a steal and adding sleeves wasn’t that much extra.

      1. Thank you for replying! That is so great! Yes, I’ve found that every last dress I find will need to have sleeves added. This dress is everything we have been looking for: simple, with specific embellishment (but not overdone) and a full skirt covered with tulle. Lovely! I’ve been looking on line and on ebay. I’ll have to check some bridal shops after Christmas. I just know though, if I shop now, I might be able to find a better deal, than when the “season” starts.

I’m new to your blog and enjoying it! Thanks!

        1. Oh, I do hope you can find something you like, Genevieve! Like you, I was looking for specific things in our First Communion dress. I wanted to be able to tuck parts of it into each of my girls’ wedding dresses if they get married. So the simple little embellishment along the hemline was important to me.

And since we re-use the same dress for each daughter, they each get their own pair of gloves for their special day.

          1. What lovely ideas! My girls will wear my wedding veil on their First Communion day. Yes! Praying to St. Anthony to help us find just the right thing…at just the right price 😉
